Put-in-Bay Pyrate Fest 2013 a Success !!!
The 5th Annual Pyrate Fest weekend at the Bay was held this past weekend in downtown Put in bay Ohio.
Pyrates invaded Put-in-Bay's downtown harbor Friday a little later than the planned start, due to weather, but they were fought off by the island inhabitants and the Pyrate King's plans foiled again. This opened the 2013 Put-in-Bay Pirate Fest. Reenactors demonstrated sword fighting techniques and the art of skullduggary.
Saturday had a full day of activities including a Pirate Parade and Costume Contest for kids and adults, Pyrate marketplace and displays, a Kids fun fest and black powder firing demonstrations throughout the weekend. You could hear the cannons going off from every point on the island! Fireworks were set off on Saturday at dark to the amazement and delight of kids young and old.
Monday is the infamous Cardboard Boat Races at 6 pm in the downtown harbor. Registrants will gather at 4:30pm to have their boats judged and submissions entered for the people's choice award. Rumor has it that the Miller Boatline is entering a replics Brig Niagara this year!
