The annual Phlocking of the Phaithful parrot head weekend rolls into town June 12-13 celebrating the music of Jimmy Buffett. Hosted by the Commodore Resort, the
Put-in-Bay Resort & Conference Center and the Island Club home rentals Over 1500 Jimmy Buffett fans will enjoy three days and nights of music, poolside parties, and great live entertainment all day and night!
Also this weekend, Put-in-Bay will celebrate the founding of the island village of Put in Bay by Jose DeRivera. Founder's Day means great food and lots of fun for the entire family. This event is held in DeRivera Park downtown across from the Edgewater Hotel from 11 am to 5 pm. Ray Fogg will perform a free concert from 12:30 to 2 pm. Mr. Balloon will make a new collection of zany balloon characters for kids of all ages and there will also be a magician. The Put-in-Bay Hog Roasters will provide a roast beef picnic lunch.
Shop for bargains at one of the many sale tables and pick up information on one of our non-profit groups that rely on the support of our community and visitors. This is a great family event!
On Sunday June 14th, Bring the family and the dog for the sixth annual Put-in-Bay Pooch Parade to benefit Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. $10 entry fee per pooch. There will be many prizes for the cutest, smallest, largest, most talented, individual best dressed, group best dressed, dog & owner look-a-like and most unique. Each entrant receives a "doggy goodie bag". Registration begins at 1 pm at the DeRivera Park gazebo.
Overall this is one of the biggest family oriented weekends at Put-in-Bay so hop aboard the Jet Express and head for the Bay!

The Lake Erie Islands Chapter of the Black Swamp Conservancy and Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial at Put-in-Bay will sponsor an Earth Day Celebration filled with activities for children of all ages beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, Superintendent Blanca Stransky announced today. Starting at 8 a.m. naturalists will lead a bird walk and conduct a “feather toss” for tree shallows at the Scheef East Point Nature Preserve on Put-in Bay, Ohio.
The National Park Service will host a Junior Ranger Jamboree at 10 a.m. said Stransky.During the Junior Ranger Jamboree, children ages 5-12 will learn about the different Ranger jobs in the National Park Service and earn Junior Ranger badges, added Stransky.Following the Junior Ranger Jamboree, everyone is invited to a Mother Earth salad and pizza buffet featuring a special guest speaker at 11:30 a.m. The price for the lunch buffet will be $8.95 per person.After lunch, Melissa Moser from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Natural Area and Preserves will give a presentation and lead a field trip to study invasive plant species.
Trail construction and garden clean-up activities will be conducted at the end of the day at the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center.
